Universal and Reeltime select fluxDVD to power the first ever intenational Download-to-own service with secure burn technology Sydney, 24th November 2006 – Universal Pictures Australasia and ReelTime Media Ltd Australian Stock Exchange Code : RMA) today announced a partnership to launch the first ever major movie download-to-own (DTO) service in the international market to include secure burn technology. The deal also marks the first major movie DTO service in Australia and New Zealand, releasing movies day-and-date with retail DVD, via its online entertainment portal, www.reeltime.tv. In an international first, from 29th November, consumers with high speed broadband connection will be able to download a wide selection of Universal movies and content for permanent ownership via a unique 3-copy secure burn DTO model. By logging onto www.reeltime.tv consumers can access two Windows Media files, downloadable to PC/laptop and a portable device (compatible with Windows Play4Sure technology) and a third digital file that allows the movie to be securely and legitimately burned to DVD, containing full DVD functionality. Eddie Cunningham, newly named President of Universal Pictures International Entertainment (UPIE) commented, “Universal is very proud to consolidate our global DTO leadership by unveiling the first ever download model in the international market to incorporate secure burn technology. This key feature gives consumers full flexibility and control over how they enjoy our movies.” From the launch date, consumers will be able to choose from an initial selection of 35
Universal titles, led by Miami Vice which will be available day and date with the DVD retail
release. ReelTime will progressively encode and make available new release titles on the same
day and date as DVD release, as well as further catalogue titles – providing greater depth of
titles and consumer choice each month.
